What it does

What your agent can do with Reddit

Reddit is where people say what they actually think, and most of the value sits in the comments rather than the post. This server gives an agent four direct tools and eight endpoints to work with. get_comments is handed a post URL and returns the thread at 2 credits per comment, newest first, paging with a cursor. search sweeps public posts for a keyword at 2 per result. get_profile returns a user’s public record for 4 and get_channel_posts their posting history at 2 per post.

The subreddit side lives behind call_endpoint. The subreddit endpoint lists a community’s current posts for 2 per post, subreddit-details returns its description and subscriber count for 4, subreddit-search finds communities for a topic at 2 per result, and post returns a single submission for 4. list_endpoints prints all of that with inputs and prices and is free to call.

Where this fits: product research, brand monitoring, finding the right communities before you post, and summarising what a long thread concluded. Reddit threads run long, so set your limit deliberately. Fifty comments is one call and 100 credits, which is also exactly the balance you get free on signup, so a first experiment might be a 20-comment page for 40.

Five jobs it finishes on its own

01

Summarise a long thread

Paste a post URL, the agent pulls the comments and writes the consensus, the dissent and the best-rated answer. Good for research threads where the top comment is better than the post.

02

Hear how a product is really discussed

search for the product name, pull the top results, then get_comments on the ones with the most discussion. Complaints on Reddit are specific in a way reviews elsewhere aren't.

03

Monitor a subreddit for mentions

The subreddit endpoint via call_endpoint lists current posts for 2 credits each. An agent on a schedule can flag new posts matching your keywords and link them to you.

04

Check a user's history before engaging

get_profile and get_channel_posts show what an account posts and where. Useful for moderators, for spotting astroturfing, and for deciding whether a reply is worth writing.

05

Find the communities for a topic

subreddit-search returns matching communities, subreddit-details adds subscriber counts and descriptions. Shortlist the places that matter before you post or advertise.

What this does not do

Written by a person, not generated. If something here is wrong, tell us.

The server reads what Reddit shows without a login: public posts, public comments, public profiles and public subreddits. Private and quarantined communities, removed comments and suspended accounts aren’t reachable, and a not-found reply is free. There’s no transcript, summary or download capability on this spoke; Reddit video isn’t covered. Each list call returns up to 50 rows at 2 credits apiece, with a floor of 1 credit per successful call. Comments arrive newest first rather than in Reddit’s own ranking, so re-sort them if ranking matters to you. Read-only: no voting, posting or messaging.

Tools

6 tools, same names as the every-platform hub

Four do one Reddit thing each. The last two reach all 8 endpoints by path, so nothing in the catalog is out of an agent's reach.

Questions

Before you connect

Do I need a Reddit account or API key? #

No. The server uses your ScraperSocial key only. No Reddit login is created or used, which is also why private communities are out of reach.

Why did a comments call cost 40 credits? #

Comments are 2 credits each and you asked for 20, the default page size. Set limit lower if you only want a sample, or up to 50 for the biggest page.

Is this Reddit's official API? #

No, and it doesn't pretend to be. ScraperSocial is an independent company with no ties to Reddit, Inc. Reddit's own API remains the route for writes and for anything requiring OAuth.

Can it read private or quarantined subreddits? #

No. Only communities a logged-out visitor can open. Anything else answers not found, unbilled.

Where are the subreddit tools? #

They're endpoints rather than named tools: /v1/reddit/subreddit, /v1/reddit/subreddit-details and /v1/reddit/subreddit-search. Call them through call_endpoint; list_endpoints shows their inputs.

Does it return the full comment tree? #

It returns the comments for a post, paginated 50 at a time. For a thread with hundreds of comments, page through with the cursor until next_cursor is empty.
